Peyton Manning isn’t going to last 16 games this season,  not this time after all the hits he’s taken, and not to mention his current state of health.   Though, you can argue that he’s been there and has done that, but in the end none of it really matters because after three neck surgeries, you’d be wise to think that the Broncos need a Super-Man O-Line.

Manning is taking a huge risk out there, but it’s because he loves the game of Football; and he’s willing to therefore take the risk of possibly getting paralyzed.

May there be a reminder that one accident is all it takes, and.. the next thing Manning knows; he can’t move at all.

At this rate for Manning, this is the last-thing Team Dr’s want him to do.

Now more than ever, Peyton Manning is fragile, just like a flower-vase, he’s putting his body, and his health on the line, all just because he wants to play some football.

— But why, when he can simply just play with a group of his friends out in his backyard?

He wants real competition (no offence to his friends) he wants to play against the best of the best pro football players, and this is the place to do it.

Peyton didn’t want to stay in Indianapolis because he knew that they were highly considering drafting Andrew Luck, during his 16 game stint on the side-line last-season.

He knew that in the health he’s in, that it would be an extremely tough challenge.

Manning made the decision to tuck and run for it, on 4rth down and 10 yards to go by signing with the Broncos.

Peyton Manning may have hurdled the first tackle; but he still has another one to avoid, can his body that has been apart of this grueling NFL for 13 years keep up again and then a couple or maybe even a few more seasons at this point?

I just don’t think so.

Can Peyton Manning‘s body take another 16 game season of hard-hits, especially after three neck-surgeries?

REPORT: Torry Holt to retire as a member of the Rams

The last time any of us saw Torry Holt play was before he left the Patriots after suffering a knee injury during training camp in 2010, but word out of St.Louis is out that he’s about to sign a contract with the Rams.  Note: It’s kind of like one of those contracts Jerry Rice signed at the end of his career to still end up as a 49er.

So with that being said, there will not be any comeback attempt, or so a source claims.  The source with the information that says Holt will sign a contract with the Rams so he can announce his retirement is  Tony Softli of ESPN 101 Radio in St.Louis.    Holt had a legit first  8 years in the league (99-07) which were with St.Louis, than he went to Jacksonvillein 09, where he wasn’t much of  an impact in, than of course, the 2010 training camp knee injury.

Note: Holt one of  few NFL players who in their rookie season were pretty big contributors, and aside from Isac Bruce (teammate WR, and Kurt Wurner teammate QB), help led his team to a Super-Bowl victory vs. the Tennessee Titans

Holt as a rookie member of the 1999 St.Louis Rams

REPORT: Rams sign WR Smith, TE Mulligan

St.Louis Dispatch Rams beat-writer (Jim Thomas) reports thatthe Rams agreed to terms with a pair of  free agents Monday.  Wide receiver Steve Smith (formerly of Philadelphia), and tight end Matthew Mulligan formally of the New York Jets.  Thomas reports that Smith’s deal is for one year, and Mulligan’s is for two years.

Smith had a break-out season in 2009, when he set a New York Giants franchise record with 107 catches, good for 1,200 yards, (second highest in Giants franchise history), and made the Pro-Bowl all in the same season.

Colts awarded three compensatory draft picks by NFL

According to the Indianapolis Stars’ Phil Richards, the Indianapolis Colts have been awarded three draft picks, it was announced in the NFL Owners meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, reports Richards.  They received a fifth-round pick (170th overall) a sixth (206), and a seventh (253).

Chicago Bears running-back Matt Forte has a right to be mad

One more thing I wanted to say here before being done on my blog for the morning:

Chicago Bears running-back Matt Forte has every right to be upset that Chicago signed Micheal Bush, I mean after the season that he’s coming off, it’s kind of like rubbing dirt in his eyes, ouch, oh well, I guess the team thought it was the best-overall decision, or maybe the owner did. I don’t know, I can’t say, I don’t cover the Bears, but I just think that it’s kind of disrespectful, and that it obviously hurts Forte in some-ways (anger).

The Sportsguy Thomas Brunt wants you to know, he doesn’t cover the Bears, only the entire NFL.

My Top 4 NFL Draftees for April’s Up-Coming Draft: 2012 NFL Mock Draft 2.0 Blog

Editors Note: This is the Sportsguy’s 2nd Mock Draft version (his top 4)

#1: Andrew Luck: Indianapolis Colts: Who better to pick for Manning’s replacement than this kid?  Besides that, as you all know, he’s been the talk for the #1 overall pick for quite some time now.

#2: Robert Griffin: Washington Redskins: Griffin, for quite some time now, has been expected to end up with Washington in April’s NFL Draft as the second overall pick.  (Yes, despite their cap-space issues)

#3:  Justin Blackmon: Cleveland Browns:  This is exactly what the Browns need.  They need a potential play-making WR that Colt McCoy can throw the football to.  Despite that being said, Cleveland has a lot of choices of whom to draft in this April’s up-coming Draft.

#4: Morris Claiborne:  Tampa Bay Buccaneers:  The Bucs, even with Ronde Barber back for another year, and Eric Wright signed in free-agency,  Tampa  has to be thrilled about the possibility of grabbing this guy from LSU.

Extra NFL Awards

I decided that there was some stuff I  could of put in my latest column: “My NFL Awards” column, so here are some:

The that was a harsh punishment, does he really deserve that award goes to Sean Peyton and the New Orleans Saints:  Saints Head-Coach Sean Peyton probably had to do with this, I’m guessing, but Drew Brees says he didn’t, but that’s another story, kind of.

The Yeah right, you didn’t know about that award goes to: Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.   He has to be lying, there is no way you don’t know what’s going on in with your own team, especially when your the quarterback.  Hey, he’s just trying to cover up for the team, apparently, it’s not working, as you can see above.

HONORABLE AWARD MENTIONS:

Dallas Cowboys: He used to be a Quarterback for their team, now he’s their head-coach award

Most Awkward NFL Announcing Booth:  Troy Aikman, and Joe Buck.  (Need I say more?) Aikman is QB Biased, or something like that?

The how could you possibly miss that field goal award goes to: Billy Cundiff and the Baltimore Ravens.  Yes, that playoff game, where Cundiff  had it, or he thought he did, I thought it was going to be good, judging from the distance, but it missed, and because of that, the Patriots would win, and advance to the NFL Super Bowl.

The Mistake of the Season Award goes to:

Kyle Williams and the San Fran 49ers.  — Yep, you know the story, Fine… CLICK  THIS

My NFL Awards Column:

My NFL Awards Column:

And… the He’s Lucky to even still be here award goes to: Norv Turner.  The Chargers we’re bad, not that bad, but they weren’t consistent.  Turner is (obviously) lucky, lucky that he’s still even in San-Diego.  While they think they’re giving him another chance to succeed, they are also giving him another chance to flunk, and that would be the way out of San Diego for Mr.Turner.

The After I did this for you, you treat me like this  award goes to:  Alex Smith and the San Francisco 49ers.  When the 49ers entered the Peyton Manning sweepstakes, Alex Smith wasn’t happy, despite being a free-agent, at the time.   Smith couldn’t believe that they didn’t give him the contract he wanted right away, after what he had done for them the previous season (lead them only one game shy of NFL Super-Bowl).  Despite the Niners recently signing him, again, he still isn’t very happy.

The I’m going to be kicking your butt for the next 3 years award goes to:  Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, who on Tuesday were the “big winners” of the Peyton Manning sweepstakes.  Now,  as you know, Manning doesn’t have a full career ahead of him, unlike Andrew Luck will, and probably does, but that doesn’t stop Manning from kicking butt for the next 3 years, does it?

The We Thought you we’re the stuff award goes to:  Sam Bradford and the St.Louis Rams: After an okay rookie season, Sam Bradford took a bit of a plummet near success, and some of that has to do with the fact that the Rams had to deal with injuries, don’t worry Rams fans, I believe that your team is headed toward a back on track season.    KEEP WISHING RAM FANS!!!!

The Miami Heat of the NFL award goes to:  Vince Young  and the Philadelphia Eagles.  During the 0ff-season, Eagles backup QB Vince Young was quoted saying: “We’re the dream-team” well, come season time, the Eagles choked, and they ate some crow, great job Mr.Young!   Note: This also has to do with the signing of  Namandi Asmagohua

The You’re only a Rookie, you’re playing like Tom Brady with Randy Moss from 2007  award goes to:  None other than, Cam Newton, duh. — The guy is freaking legit, put up spectacular numbers for a rookie, he definitely proved the haters wrong, for now.

The We are the States Real NFL team award goes to:  The New York Giants,  In case you forgotten, the Giants put a giant crow in  “Sexy Rexy’s” mouth by beating the J-E-T-S the day before Christmas Eve.   Note: Yes, the Giants won the Super-Bowl *sigh*  and yes, this win vs. the Jets knocked them out of the playoffs, and no, I’M NOT A JETS FAN, NOR A GIANTS FAN.

The Good job, you just signed someone that did nothing for about 7 years award goes to:  The Buffalo Bills in their recent signing of  Defensive End Mario Williams (formerly of the Houston Texans).

The I keep getting fined by the NFL Commissioner Award goes to:

That one dude from the Pittsburgh Steelers, yes, THIS guy.  James seems to always be in trouble, and you know how they talk about Pro Athletes setting good examples for little viewers, well, he’s crossed that line just a tad bit, to much.

And, last, but not least, the last one is:  Congratulations, you have done absoutley nothing to benefit your team so far this off-season award goes to:  The Miami Dolphins, who as I wrote (previously) could be so much more.

The Sportsguy Thomas Brunt wants you to know that he thinks this is the most GENIUS SPORTS COLUMN HE’S EVER WRITTEN.

What the Miami Dolphins could be: (Much More)

MIAMI:  The Dolphins could be so much more, so much more, in fact.  They could have guys like: QB Matt Flynn, they could have HOF QB Peyton Manning, they could have Alex Smith, or they could (still) have Brandon Marshall.  — And who knows really, what else they could have on this team, but even if Manning did end up with Miami, he wouldn’t be there for 14 years,  nope, he’d be there for 3 years.   Hey, as Pittsburgh Steeler (Defensive Back) Ryan Clark put it: “No one wants to play for the Dolphins”.

Thomas Brunt wants you to know that he thinks that the Dolphinshave done absolutely nothing to benefit themselves this off-season.

Matt Flynn signing with the Miami Dolphins did not happen this off-season, instead he ended up with the Seattle Seehawks, where he is NOT guaranteed a starting QB job right away.

Peyton Manning: Why The Horses?

What is it with Peyton Manning playing for Horse teams?   I mean obviously, for 14 years he played for the Indianapolis Colts, and today, news got out that he has finally signed with a team (the Denver Broncos).

If  I could ask Manning one thing in person right now, it would be: Why the Horses?

Blog: David Garrad to visit Miami Dolphins on (Monday)

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports that free agent quarterback  David Garrard has scheduled a visit with the Miami Dolphins.

Garrard, who is 34 years old wouldn’t be any more of a short-term solution for Miami’s quarterback woes.  In fact, he probably wouldn’t even be a candidate to start.  Garradexpects to make some noise in the free-agency market, so he’ll likely visit more than just (Miami) before actually signing with the (Dolphins).

hough that could change quickly if the team signed (former Green Bay backup QB/Current Free Agent) Matt Flynn or  (former 49er’s QB/Current Free Agent QB) Alex Smith.

Flynn was at Dolphins headquarters on Saturday. Smith is there on Sunday.

Garrard’s visit is scheduled for Monday, unless otherwise.

UPDATE: David Garrard is expected to visit the St.Louis Rams after his visit to Miami (according to ProFootballTalk.com

BLOG: Whisenhunt confirms Cardinals out of Peyton Manning Derby

To many, the Arizona Cardinals seemed like an excellent fit for former Indianapolis Colts Quarterback/Current Free Agent Peyton Manning, they have a top three NFL receiver, and an up an coming running game, and defense,  and a retractable roof stadium in one of the league’s weaker divisions. Manning did confirm his interest in Arizona by paying a visit to the Cardinals headquarters last weekend, but it didn’t work out.

“Regarding today’s developments and our quarterback position, acquiring Peyton Manning is no longer an option for us,” Whisenhunt confirmed, referring to Friday’s decision to pay Kevin Kolb’s $7 million roster bonus.

“Since the end of last season, we made it very clear that our plan was to head into 2012 with Kevin Kolb and John Skelton, let the process play out and — like at every position — go with the quarterback who gives us the best chance to win.

“Obviously something very unique and unexpected presented itself. We’ve said it many times: If there’s an opportunity to make our team better, we’ll explore it. … In the end, it didn’t work out, but from our perspective it was very positive and we certainly don’t have any regrets about it.”

Teams desperate to land Manning have ignored Health

Manning meets with the Titans for eight hours

As you know, Peyton Manning played his college ball in Tennessee, and he loves it there, so, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him end up with the Titans, plus Titans owner Bud Adams has offered him a ‘life-time’ contract, that may play in to an advantage for him, than there’s the team that I don’t you can necessarily knock out of  in these talks, in the Denver Broncos, who by some, may be viewed as THE favorites to end up signing Manning.

As Mark Schelereth from ESPN’sNFL Live said the other day: “The Denver Broncos are really the only team that doesn’t have to do anything”.

And he’s right, by that, if you don’t get why he’s saying, is basically, they don’t have to make any changes, to fill in for possible non money to be able to get him, or something like that.  —  No offense to Tim Tebow, but I think we all know that Denver is WAY HIGHER on Manning than they are on Tebow, who hasn’t been to shabby himself, in just his second season as a starting NFL QB.

While Denver, or John Elway, more specially, may be so high on Manning, they do have to keep in mind this: Peyton Manning’s health, like I said, every-team that is wanting to sign the 13 year NFL  Future Hall Of Famer QB, have to keep in their minds, the delicately of Manning’s health, which really doesn’t seem to bother anyone that has wanted to take a shot PM. Manning, though, will make the decision that he does, and if that means retiring, because, he ultimately in the end, realizes the importance of his own health (*Cough: 3 Neck Surgeries this past off-season), than, hey, that’s fine with me, but I don’t think we ever will have another player quite like Peyton Manning.

Thomas Brunt wants you to know, that he thinks that Peyton Manning should really retire, in order to avoid any serious injures, but hey, that’s just his opinion, you can send your’s to him here: thesportsguy.brunt2@gmail.com

Note To Peyton Manning: RETIRE NOW!!

Peyton Manning shouldn’t stay in this league, he will end up hurting himself in the long-run, for playing too long, longer than he needs to. He needs to retire right now, now, I’m not trying to be his conscience or anything, but, all I’m trying to do here is help him, from making a decision that may cut 5-or maybe even 10 years of off his life. This league, now more than ever, is at probably the highest injury rate that it’s ever been.  This is a note to Mr.Manning himself, retire now, or suffer the eternal pain, plus the 14 years you have already gone through of hard-hits.  Thomas Brunt is a sports-blogger/sports-columnist, and is still on lent, and won’t be tweeting until Easter Sunday. Until then, follow his sports-blog for updates.

My Latest Column: Ndamukong Suh needs to stop it right now

DETROIT MICHIGAN:  Ndamukong Suh needs to stop it, he needs to stop it right now or else Roger Godell might be pushed to his limits, pushed to his limits further than he was with James Harrison duing last-season when he wouldn’t stop keep getting fined, and wouldn’t keep his mouth shut.

—- It’s certaintly not a question of the talent that Suh has, rather a question of discpline. This is becoming a problem for Suh, who hasn’t seemed to learn to stay out of trouble, which cant’ be good for him, and all the eye-candy scouts that love watching NFL rookies play, and compare them to current College Football players, or compare the current College Football players to him.

— If Suh doesn’t figure it out soon, he’s going to have to find out the harder-way, because he kind of is already trying to find out the “hard way” but now, it’s going to get tougher, it only can, until something for the better happens.
