The BCS is a Mess

THE BCS IS A MESS, and it’s something that needs to be fixed, and real soon.  — Because of it, we will never be able to find out what could of been for teams such as the 2009 TCU Horned Frogs or the 2004 Auburn Tigers who feel like they got cheated for not being invited to the National  Championship game. — As you would expect they both still got into a BCS Bowl game. — Though, you still can’t  help but wonder at times what they could of been.

In 2004, the Auburn Tigers posted a 14-0 record, and didn't even get into the National Championship, so in the end, the ultimate loss is in them

Left handed reliever Darren Oliver has agreed to a one-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays with a club option for 2013, that is pending a physical, according to sources Friday.

Oliver, who turned 41 in October, was a key member in the Texas Rangers’ bullpen  the past two seasons.  He (Oliver) had a 5-5 record with a 2.29 ERA in 51 innings with two saves and 16 holds in 2011.
 —
Oliver has also provided some veteran leadership for a young pitching staff after returning to the Rangers following three seasons with Anaheim.

Talkin’ Cowboys: Giant Matchup

Talkin’ Cowboys: Giant Matchup

NEW YORK: It comes down to this, the Dallas Cowboys on the road at the New York Giants for the AFC East, for the playoffs, it all comes down to one game on Sunday afternoon. — This game, being the key to both teams’s road to the playoffs. — But only one team in the end, will come out victorious, and that’s whether it ends up as a tie, because of the last-time these two teams met, the Giants won, so this game, yes, as much as the Giants need to win this game, it’s in a sense, more of a must win for Dallas. — And if the Cowboys do win this huge game, they have a shot at a rematch vs. the Lions, and you know how that game went in the regular season.

— Tony Romo is expected to play for the Cowboys, who got his hand injured in Sunday’s meaningless game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, which Philadelphia won 20-7. — Because of the Giants beating the Jets, the Eagles are mathematically speaking, eliminated (for good) from the post-season. — And that’s regardless of who ever wins this Sunday’s game between Dallas and New York.

* If the Giants lost to the Jets in Sunday’s game at the Jets, and if Philadelphia beat Dallas, than this would be Philly controlling their own destiny for one more Sunday on out.

* If Tony Romo doesn’t for some reason end up starting in Sunay’s game at the Giants, 3rd stringer QB Stephen McGee will play, due to 2nd string QB (John Kitna) being placed on the “IR”.

* But don’t expect to see McGee starting on Sunday’s game for Dallas, reports are that Romo has been “good” in practice, and is “okay to start Sunday’s game at the Giants” according to a source.

Cowboys Blog Post: Dallas and New York’s season come down to a must win game vs. the 2

Texas A&M a different kind of 6-6

COLLEGE STATION TEXAS: — It was mostly a disappointing season for the Texas A&M Aggies, who went 6-6 a letdown of a final season of the Big 12, though the 6-6 A&M went wasn’t a bad 6-6 team, it was a 6-6 team that had leads in just about every-game they played in, and than, of course, A&M choked, they would just stop playing as if the game was all but over, as if they didn’t need to do anything else to win the game, but they gave up those many leads, which is a really big reason to why they finished at 6-6.  — Look no further than    these games: Oklahoma State*, Arkansas, Missouri*,  Kansas State*, and Texas*.

All of those games were close, but as the old saying goes:  “close” only counts in horseshoes.

My latest blog post: My thoughts on Giants/Jets

I’m a Freshman sports-writer/reporter for Birdville High School (Birdville Hawks, BISD). — This is MY OWN PERSONAL sports-blog, and it MAY NOT BE copied in any shape, way, or form at all what so ever.

NEW YORK: Rex Ryan likes to talk a big game, but can his team win one? — The Jets did knock off the Patriots in the playoffs last-season, but that was than, this is now, and the Jets need a win, a win to keep post-season wins alive, and so do the Giants, for the same reason. — Eli Manning is more of the QB, rather than 3rd year starting QB Mark Sanchez of the New York Jets. That, and he’s got good receivers that can make plays, but the Giants have been inconsistent this season, at least if anything, Manning is more conistent as a player, in the fact that he hasn’t thrown as many interceptions this season as he did all of last season (25).  — This game is as big as the Big Apple it’s self for the time being, of course. — As you know though, only team can come out on top, will Ryan’s big game talk Jets come to play, or will Coughlin’s Giants prevail in a Giant game?

Packers perfect no more

If anyone was going to beat the Green Bay Packers no one would of thought it would be the Kansas City Chiefs. — But you know how saying goes: “Any given Sunday” that’s exactly the case in which the Packers lose 19-14 to the least unexpected of KC Chiefs.
— It’s surprising, but it’s not, because in recent games, the Packers have shown weaknesses in their defense, and their inability to protect QB Aaron Rodgers at times. — Kansas City, really was able to exploit those weaknesses, and capitalize on the mistakes. — Both going 16-0, and beating a undefeated team 14 games down the season, are both easier said than done, but the Chiefs just played a better game than Green-Bay on Sunday, but the Packers, despite losing this one, are certainty the better team.

— Or so they appear to be 14 games into this season, at least.   — One thing is for sure, the Chiefs knew something, and Crennel has or had the blueprints to stop this team, expect for him to be getting a lot of emails from other head-coaches, or defensive coordinators around the league, for a while, that is from playoff bound coaches, most likely.

Pre-Game blog of Cowboys vs. Buccaneers

I’m a Freshman sports-writer/reporter for Birdville High School (Birdville Hawks, BISD). — This is MY OWN PERSONAL sports-blog, and it MAY NOT BE copied in any shape, way, or form at all what so ever.
Pre-Note: The Cowboys come into this game at 7-6, and the Buccaneers come in, well, let’s just say they’ve lost 7 in a row, and haven’t won a game since week 6 vs. the New Orleans Saints:

TAMPA–BAY: Join me for a live game blog of the Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which is played at Raymond James Stadium.
Here are my 5 things to watch for in tonight’s game:

  1. Look for the Cowboys to get into field-goal range for most posseions
  2. The Cowboys aren’t going up against one of the NFL’s better offenses, so, don’t be surprised if the D is rather “vanilla” like tonight. — Vanilla meaning better.
  3. The Buccaneers inability to get to Tony Romo, and pressure him will be key to why Dallas SHOULD win this game.
  4. Look for Tony Romo to be a like a duck in the pond, with not much pressure on him in the game

5. Look for Romo to hook up with D. Bryant on a few plays in tonight’s game.

—–
2 Things Dallas MUST do to win the game:
1. Dallas CAN’T allow L. Blount to get more than a few BIG plays
2. Dan Bailey has to be sharp (100%) on field-goals tonight.
