NFL Storylines to keep an eye on this season

Thomas Brunt’s NFL Storylines to keep an eye on this season:

The Mark Sanchez/Tim Tebow New York Jets Soap Opera Begins:   Expect a lot of unexpected things.  Or expect Tim Tebow to respect Mark Sanchez.  Expect Mark Sanchez to get jealous of  Tim Tebow if  at some-point Sanchez’s performance isn’t worthy of  Ryan’s  team.   This will be interesting, or it should be at least.

The Giants and their inconsistencies:

The Giants, for whatever the reason may be; seem to start sluggish in the begging of the season, and get in a losing streak, Eli looking like fried toast with the secondaries picking him off, and getting sacked, what have you.

— Until hmm.. say the last five or six games of the season; things start to fall in place.    One thing I have certainly learned from watching this team; don’t count them out.

Remember folks,  Tom Coughlin has been considered on the  “Red Hot Seat” a couple of times, but he shuts that talk up in a giant way by winning the Super-Bowl.  (2007, 2012).     — Well, umm,.. at least this team is consistently inconsistent?

—-

The Cowboys and Dez Bryant:

Dallas has put Dez Bryant on a leash.  That’s all I need to say about that; other-than it’s all  because of  his maturity  issues.   If there is anything that I have learned from this case; it’s definitely  that Dallas isn’t going to take any crap.   For Dez, there are no excuses, he knows how to act; but he’s choosing to be stupid.

Tom Brady looks to get the Patriots on the rebound after losing the Super-Bowl to the Giants:

One of the greatest Quarterbacks in the history of the NFL  in Tom Brady has a chip on his shoulder, and it’s something that every-team that loses the Super-Bowl has to deal with coming into the next-season.

— I’m 100% sure that if  the Patriots where to win the Super-Bowl this (coming) season, against someone other than the Giants, Tom Brady would be just fine; in the fact that it wouldn’t be revenge on the G-Men.

So in other words; Tom Brady doesn’t have a chip on shoulder because he’s 0-2 against the Giants in the Super-Bowl; but because they lost the Super-Bowl period last-season, and that’s the bottom line.  I don’t think it would have mattered at all who they lost it to, the thing is they lost it, but as long as they win it, hey it’s the Super-Bowl, and everyone on the team’s a winner when (if) you win that game.

Is Cam Newton the Real Deal for Real?:

There is no doubt that the guy put up simply amazing numbers just for a rookie last-season, but the big question here is was that a fluke, or is he the guy to save the Carolina Panthers franchise that seemingly is still down the drain (even after his phenomenal rookie season last-season).

And Last but not Least:

Terrell Owens and whatever team he ends up with:

…. Owens was with Seattle, but according to a Tweet from the former 49er’s receiver, he got cut from the team.  — What’s next now for the Future Hall Of Fame Football player?   (And for those wondering, no I highly doubt he’ll grow out of his own ego.

REPORT: Rams sign WR Smith, TE Mulligan

St.Louis Dispatch Rams beat-writer (Jim Thomas) reports thatthe Rams agreed to terms with a pair of  free agents Monday.  Wide receiver Steve Smith (formerly of Philadelphia), and tight end Matthew Mulligan formally of the New York Jets.  Thomas reports that Smith’s deal is for one year, and Mulligan’s is for two years.

Smith had a break-out season in 2009, when he set a New York Giants franchise record with 107 catches, good for 1,200 yards, (second highest in Giants franchise history), and made the Pro-Bowl all in the same season.

My NFL Awards Column:

My NFL Awards Column:

And… the He’s Lucky to even still be here award goes to: Norv Turner.  The Chargers we’re bad, not that bad, but they weren’t consistent.  Turner is (obviously) lucky, lucky that he’s still even in San-Diego.  While they think they’re giving him another chance to succeed, they are also giving him another chance to flunk, and that would be the way out of San Diego for Mr.Turner.

The After I did this for you, you treat me like this  award goes to:  Alex Smith and the San Francisco 49ers.  When the 49ers entered the Peyton Manning sweepstakes, Alex Smith wasn’t happy, despite being a free-agent, at the time.   Smith couldn’t believe that they didn’t give him the contract he wanted right away, after what he had done for them the previous season (lead them only one game shy of NFL Super-Bowl).  Despite the Niners recently signing him, again, he still isn’t very happy.

The I’m going to be kicking your butt for the next 3 years award goes to:  Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, who on Tuesday were the “big winners” of the Peyton Manning sweepstakes.  Now,  as you know, Manning doesn’t have a full career ahead of him, unlike Andrew Luck will, and probably does, but that doesn’t stop Manning from kicking butt for the next 3 years, does it?

The We Thought you we’re the stuff award goes to:  Sam Bradford and the St.Louis Rams: After an okay rookie season, Sam Bradford took a bit of a plummet near success, and some of that has to do with the fact that the Rams had to deal with injuries, don’t worry Rams fans, I believe that your team is headed toward a back on track season.    KEEP WISHING RAM FANS!!!!

The Miami Heat of the NFL award goes to:  Vince Young  and the Philadelphia Eagles.  During the 0ff-season, Eagles backup QB Vince Young was quoted saying: “We’re the dream-team” well, come season time, the Eagles choked, and they ate some crow, great job Mr.Young!   Note: This also has to do with the signing of  Namandi Asmagohua

The You’re only a Rookie, you’re playing like Tom Brady with Randy Moss from 2007  award goes to:  None other than, Cam Newton, duh. — The guy is freaking legit, put up spectacular numbers for a rookie, he definitely proved the haters wrong, for now.

The We are the States Real NFL team award goes to:  The New York Giants,  In case you forgotten, the Giants put a giant crow in  “Sexy Rexy’s” mouth by beating the J-E-T-S the day before Christmas Eve.   Note: Yes, the Giants won the Super-Bowl *sigh*  and yes, this win vs. the Jets knocked them out of the playoffs, and no, I’M NOT A JETS FAN, NOR A GIANTS FAN.

The Good job, you just signed someone that did nothing for about 7 years award goes to:  The Buffalo Bills in their recent signing of  Defensive End Mario Williams (formerly of the Houston Texans).

The I keep getting fined by the NFL Commissioner Award goes to:

That one dude from the Pittsburgh Steelers, yes, THIS guy.  James seems to always be in trouble, and you know how they talk about Pro Athletes setting good examples for little viewers, well, he’s crossed that line just a tad bit, to much.

And, last, but not least, the last one is:  Congratulations, you have done absoutley nothing to benefit your team so far this off-season award goes to:  The Miami Dolphins, who as I wrote (previously) could be so much more.

Cowboys Blog Post: Dallas and New York’s season come down to a must win game vs. the 2

I’m a Freshman sports-writer/reporter for Birdville High School (Birdville Hawks, BISD). — This is MY OWN PERSONAL sports-blog, and it MAY NOT BE copied in any shape, way, or form at all what so ever.

NEW YORK: It comes down to this, the Dallas Cowboys on the road at the New York Giants for the AFC East, for the playoffs, it all comes down to one game on Sunday afternoon.   — This game, being the key to both teams’s road to the playoffs.   — But only one team in the end, will come out victorious, and that’s whether it ends up as a tie, because of the last-time these two teams met, the Giants won, so this game, yes, as much as the Giants need to win this game, it’s in a sense, more of a must win for Dallas. — And if the Cowboys do win this huge game, they have a shot at a rematch vs. the Lions, and you know how that game went in the regular season.
—  Tony Romo is expected to play for the Cowboys, who got his hand injured in Sunday’s meaningless game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, which Philadelphia won 20-7.  — Because of the Giants beating the Jets, the Eagles are mathematically speaking, eliminated (for good) from the post-season.

— And that’s regardless of who ever wins this Sunday’s game between Dallas and New York.

* If the Giants lost to the Jets in Sunday’s game at the Jets, and if Philadelphia beat Dallas, than this would be Philly controlling their own destiny for one more Sunday on out.

* If Tony Romo doesn’t for some reason end up starting in Sunay’s game at the Giants, 3rd stringer QB Stephen McGee will play, due to 2nd string QB (John Kitna) being placed on the “IR”.

* But don’t expect to see McGee starting on Sunday’s game for Dallas, reports are that Romo has been “good” in practice, and is “okay to start Sunday’s game at the Giants” according to a source.

My latest blog post: My thoughts on Giants/Jets

I’m a Freshman sports-writer/reporter for Birdville High School (Birdville Hawks, BISD). — This is MY OWN PERSONAL sports-blog, and it MAY NOT BE copied in any shape, way, or form at all what so ever.

NEW YORK: Rex Ryan likes to talk a big game, but can his team win one? — The Jets did knock off the Patriots in the playoffs last-season, but that was than, this is now, and the Jets need a win, a win to keep post-season wins alive, and so do the Giants, for the same reason. — Eli Manning is more of the QB, rather than 3rd year starting QB Mark Sanchez of the New York Jets. That, and he’s got good receivers that can make plays, but the Giants have been inconsistent this season, at least if anything, Manning is more conistent as a player, in the fact that he hasn’t thrown as many interceptions this season as he did all of last season (25).  — This game is as big as the Big Apple it’s self for the time being, of course. — As you know though, only team can come out on top, will Ryan’s big game talk Jets come to play, or will Coughlin’s Giants prevail in a Giant game?
