Prayer is important. Do you know why it is?  Prayer is important ultimately not because it benefits us, but because the purpose of prayer is to advance the Kingdom of God.  Jesus tells us to ask him anything and it will be done.  This isn’t so God can grant our every desire as if he were our butler; Rather so we can serve God.  We need prayer because it connects us directly to God the father.  I think every Christian knows the importance of being connected to God.  Our spiritual lives become dead, and we basically turn into zombies. When we are connected to God in our prayer life, one of the most important things happens.  In Matthew, Jesus teaches us how to pray.   Part of the prayer that Christ models for the Christian life should go something like this: “Hallowed be your name, your kingdom come”  Now it doesn’t have to be exactly like that, but I would point someone who is new to the faith to this, and as you progress you can come up with your own biblical prayers.   Remember, the point of prayer is not to advance our Kingdom, but to advance God’s kingdom. That is why we are here.
