UNIVERSITY PARK: The South Lake Carroll Dragons (12-2), while they did not pull off a victory over the undefeated DeSoto Eagles (13-0), aren’t by any means “losers”, and if anything they are far from that. It’s the team that has to walk off the field empty-handed, as the Dragons had three shots at it, and senior quarterback Kenny Hill tried sneaking it in all three times, the Eagles, however had other plans.
— Hill, despite being stopped short by a stone-wall of a defensive effort in the game’s lasting-seconds, ran just about everywhere on the Eagles defense, accounting for a game-high 5 rushing touchdowns, also passing for one touchdown pass, but the one time the Dragons needed Hill’s contributions the most, it failed, but only be an inch. It was an inch more South Lake needed to win the game. It was an inch shy, the Carroll Dragons ended up. Only one more, and DeSoto wouldn’t have been undefeated anymore, but for the Eagles when the going got tough, they brought it, but the Dragons are anything but “losers”.
