DeSoto vs. Allen: — Looking at the matchup.. the battle of the Eagles..

DeSoto defeated South Lake, and Allen defeated South Lake.   DeSoto is  undefeated at 14-0, Allen is 13-1.    The Eagles (Allen),  somehow was able to shut-out the South Lake Carroll Dragons 24-0 when Allen unveiled their brand spanking new  $60 Million stadium, DeSoto however, surrendered 45 points to the Dragons in Saturday’s Division 1  State Quarterfinal Playoff game at SMU’S Ford-Stadium.

—  DeSoto, is ranked #1 in the state on MaxPreps.com’s rankings, and #1 in their “Xcellent 25” rankings.   Allen is right behind DeSoto in state-rankings at #2, and Maxpreps has them at #25 in the “Xcellent 25” ratings.

Allen’s only loss came against the Cooper Cowboys, in a  27-24 thriller on September, 28th.   DeSoto came as close as Saturday’s near loss vs. Carroll, playing from behind, and scoring the game-winning touchdown with seven minutes to go in the game, stopping the Dragons short, no literary, an INCH-SHORT.

If anything, the DeSoto Eagles are the favored team in  Friday night’s game, which will once again be played at SMU’s Ford-Stadium.    Though the favored ones, a big task lies ahead in front of  these DeSoto Eagles,  in their opponents, the Allen Eagles (yes, they’re the Eagles, too).

While DeSoto may have only won  by an inch on Saturday, they still came out on top as the winner.  — As did Allen in their game.      But  only one team named: “The Eagles”  are going to head to the State Championship game on Saturday.     Expect an epic clash in this one.
